Beat Writer’s Block
Writer’s block has an infamous stranglehold on the writing community. It unites us all in how much it frustrates us. In September and October of 2024, I did a mini-series on TikTok about techniques you can use to overcome writer’s block when it rears its ugly head. Take a look using the links below. I hope that some of these tricks prove useful to you! Good luck, and happy writing.
Episode 1: Crappy Rough Drafts
Admittedly a well-known adage, but it has had a greater impact on my ability to overcome writer’s block than just about anything else!
A simple exercise I call the “Onramp” for getting ideas on the blank page.
Episode 3: Don’t Edit Til You’re Done
If self-criticism is the root of your writer’s block, try the “No Backspace” game. Remember, writing and editing are two separate processes!
Episode 4: Be Your Own Writing Partner
We look at some writing advice from Daniels, the filmmakers behind Everything Everywhere All At Once. Writing partners can help you “fail faster,” but how do you do that if you’re alone?
